What is PDO Thread Lifting?
PDO (Polydioxanone) Thread Lifting is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure used to lift and tighten sagging skin on the face and neck. The procedure involves inserting thin, dissolvable threads into the skin, which are then used to lift and support the tissues. The threads used in PDO thread lifting are made from a biodegradable material called polydioxanone, which is commonly used in surgical sutures. Once the threads are inserted into the skin, they provide a supportive structure for the tissues, encouraging collagen production and promoting the formation of new blood vessels. Over time, the threads dissolve naturally, leaving behind a newly formed network of collagen and elastin fibres that continue to support and rejuvenate the skin. This leads to a tightening and lifting effect, redefining facial contours resulting in a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
The Procedure
PDO thread lifting is performed under local anaesthesia and takes around 45 to 60 minutes to complete, depending on the extent of the treatment area. This procedure may be used in conjunction with toxin and dermal filler treatments for optimal results.
2 treatments are recommended for best results 1-2 months apart. Optimum results are seen at 3-6 months when the body’s own collagen has aided the tightening and lifting effect within the skin and soft tissues. The threads naturally dissolve at around 6 months. However, the results last up to 12-18 months.
