What are dermal fillers and what are they used for?
Dermal fillers are injectable gels that are used to restore volume and fullness to various areas of the face, such as the cheeks, chin, lips, and under-eye area. They are made of hyaluronic acid and cross-linked in a gel for longevity. They are naturally metabolised by the body.
Dermal fillers are commonly used to enhance, define and plump lips as well as being used to create symmetry, aid masculinisation or feminisation, add volume and contour to areas that have lost fullness due to ageing or other factors. They can also be used to improve the appearance of scars, and create a more youthful, radiant complexion.
The Procedure & Results
Dermal filler is injected into the targeted area using a fine needle or cannula. Treatment visits are generally from 30 mins to 1 hour depending on how many areas you are treating. Topical or injectable anaesthesia is provided depending on the area of treatment and the patient’s request.
The results are immediate and can last anywhere from 6 months to 1 year, depending on the type of filler, the area of the face and your metabolism.
