What Happens to Our Skin in Our 50's?
It’s all about looking and feeling your best!
At age 50 collagen production can be up to 50% lower than in our teens so our skin changes can be pronounced with increasing depths and fixed lines such as crows feet and frown lines. Skin repair is slower, our depressor muscles are starting to win, creating downturned corners of our mouths and marionette lines. Boney changes and lost subcutaneous fat are creating emotional attributes that may not suit or represent us, such as tired eyes, angry faces from frown lines, sad faces from downturned corners of our mouths. Here are a few tips to prevent and/or treat some of the above issues that we face in our 50’s!
Prevention is still always key!
Recommended treatments for 50’s.
Treatments to help mitigate and slow down the signs of ageing are plentiful and many can be and should be used in conjunction for best results. Skin Boosters can be used to improve tone and texture and are great to give you a glow and mitigate fine lines. Neuromodulators like Botox relax muscles, reducing the appearance of dynamic lines and folds in your skin and with the reduced muscle movement. It slows the progression of existing lines at rest and if you’re lucky (or use a skin booster) you might get some repair and reduction of the existing lines. Dermal Fillers can be used for enhancing symmetry, masculinity, and feminising. It may be used to replace diminishing facial fat pads in your cheeks and lips giving greater contours.
Perioral treatments are a very popular treatment to reduce white lip lines and to add lip
structure. Treatment on the Philtrum columns can restore lip shape as well as volume to the red lip if desired. PDO Lifting Threads can be carefully placed under the skin to lift sagging skin and improve jowls whilst creating better skin texture as it stimulates your own collagen in time. Fat dissolving can be used to reduce fat under the chin working well with other treatments.
