What Happens to Our Skin in Our 40's?
It’s all about looking and feeling your best!
At age 40, you may notice further changes in your face due to the natural ageing process. Your collagen production has reduced by another 10%. The skin may become thinner and drier, which can make wrinkles and fine lines more pronounced. You may also experience a loss of facial fat pads (volume plumpness) in your cheeks, temples and lips which can make your face appear hollowed out. In addition, you may start to have boney changes leading to more pronounced eye bags and nasolabial folds. Your elevating facial muscles may continue to weaken, leading to further sagging and loss of definition in your jawline and neck. The extent to which these changes occur varies from person to person and lifestyle.
Prevention is still key!
SPF50 for your face and SPF30 for your body twice a day, drinking lots of water, eating good foods, reducing bad lifestyles and increasing good habits are always the way forward.
Recommended treatments for 40’s.
Treatments to help mitigate and slow down the signs of ageing are plentiful and many can be and should be used in conjunction for best results. Skin Boosters can be used to improve tone and texture and are great to give you a glow and mitigate fine lines. Neuromodulators like Botox relax muscles, reducing the appearance of dynamic lines and folds in your skin and with the reduced muscle movement. It slows the progression of existing lines at rest and if you’re lucky (or use a skin booster) you might get some repair and reduction of the existing lines. Dermal Fillers can be used for enhancing symmetry, masculinity, and feminising. It may be used to replace diminishing facial fat pads in your cheeks and lips giving greater contours.
PDO Lifting Threads can be carefully placed under the skin to lift sagging skin and improve jowls whilst creating better skin texture in time as it stimulates your own collagen in time.
